Straw ornament for Star Festival ストローで作る七夕オーナメント

7月7日の七夕（たなばた）の日にちなんで、ストローでオーナメントを作りました。とは言ってもとても簡単なものですが・・・。作り方は文章では説明できませんので、ご想像にお任せということで。釣り糸をストローに通して星の形を組んだものを天井から吊るします。大きさは20～25㎝程度。
この日、目黒で行われるShuhariのLIVEのデコレーションにどうかなと思って作りました。パステルカラーは可愛過ぎるということで、黒赤緑のシンプルなものを使ってくれるようです。
ストローはとても軽く、（メーカーにもよりますが）90度近くまで耐熱で、カラーバリエーションも豊富なので、デコレーションには持って来いかなぁと今回思いました。

I made Star Ornamet with drinking straws for a live performance of Japanese band Shuhari in Meguro, Tokyo on 7th July, Star Festival day.With a fishing wire and drinking straw, build the star shapes and hang those from the ceiling. Sizes are 20-25cm. I will not explain the way to make so use your imagination... Pastel colour ones will not be used because they are cute. Black, Red and Green ones can be decorated for the live. I think a drinking straw is a suitable material for decoration as they are very light, heat-resistant till 90 deg (depends) and have many colours.

クリスマスになるかと思ったけどそうでもない。この形が一番安定する。（下の写真の左下）
Green, Red and Black do not go Christmas. Stable shape.

What is Star Festival?

"The Star Festival originates from Chinese legend of the two bright stars, Altair and Vega.
Vega, a weaving girl, and Altair, a cowherd boy, loved each other.
They had so much fun being together they stop working hard.
The king got angry and separated them by the big river or the Milky Way.
He allowed them to meet once a year across the Milky Way only on the night of July 7th.
On that day, people decorate bamboo branches with paper strips and ornaments to celebrate their reunion.
It is believed that a wish comes true when you write your wish on the paper strips and hang them on the bamboo."

ライブで使っていただきました。予想外に影がいい感じです。宇宙空間！

準備は2時間ほど。ひさしぶりで楽しかった。

音量が私には大きすぎましたが、いい演奏でした。

Before start making 作り始める前に

ストローアクセサリーの作り方を紹介する前に注意とアドバイスを簡単にしておきます。今後、お子様から大人まで作って楽しめる、身につけて楽しめるアクセサリーデザインを提案していくのでお楽しみに！
余談ですが、岡山県の中備化工有限会社さんのストローブログに作品が紹介されました。ここでは老人ホームの方々手作りの絵画のような作品も紹介されています。ストローアートは幅広い世代の人が楽しめるものなんですね。私たちの身近な存在であるプラスチックのストロー。アイデア一つで素敵なアートに変身します。
＜注意点＞

• はさみで切るとストローは飛びます。目に入らないように注意してください。
• 針とはさみを使うので、指などを怪我しないように十分に注意して作業をしてください。
• ストローは鋭角に切り落とすと、かなり尖るのでその部分には触らないようにしてください。

（お子様がいる方へ）

• 　お子様が作業する際は大人の方と一緒に作ってください。
• 　ストローを口にくわえて遊ばせないでください。
• 　ネックレスは首に巻きつき危険な場合があります。お子様が身につける際は気を付けてください。
• 　誤って飲み込んでしまう恐れもありますので、小さなアクセサリーパーツや切ったストローは片づけてください。

＜アドバイス＞

• ストローが飛んでどこかに行ってしまわないよう、お菓子の空き箱などの中で作業すると良いでしょう。
• ストローを切る際、はさみの奥部分で切るときれいに切れます。
• 丸カンよりもやや太めの針でストローに穴をあけると、丸カンが通りやすいです。
• ストローはポリプロピレンでできているので、ストローはプラスチックごみ（資源ごみ）に分別して捨てましょう。

<Notice>

• Avoid a straw that spring up to your eyes when you use scissors.
• Be careful on your fingers when you use a needle and scissors.
• Do not touch a point of straw that is cut off at acute angle.

 (For person with children)

• Make accessory with an adult.
• Do not play with a straw in your mouth.
• Watch your child when necklace is worn.
• Keep away from small findings and cut straws.

<Advice>

• Use a box to stop escaping straw when you cut it off.
• Use back side of scissors when you cut a straw.
• Use a needle thicker than a jumpring.
• Put a straw into a recycle bin because it is made of polypropylene.

Beginning はじめに

こんにちは。東京に住むジュエリーアーティストです。
今日からブログ「Straw Accessory Ideas 100 ストローで作る簡単おしゃれアクセサリー」を始めることにしました。
きっかけは、雑誌non-noの占いに「ブログを始めると良い」と書いてあったからです（笑）。このブログでは私がデザインしたストローアクセサリーの作り方を紹介していきます。ネックレス、ヘアアクセサリー、ブレスレット、ピアス、イヤリング、リング、ブローチなどなど。目指すは１００個のデザイン！マイペースに更新していきますのでよろしくお願いします。
ストローでのアクセサリー作りは今年から始め、４月に原宿デザインフェスタギャラリーでUnionJapの第2回目の合同展に誘われ参加させていただきました（写真）。その時はネックピースを中心とした作品をストローで作りました（→ホームページで一部作品をご覧いただけます）。これがきっかけでストローという素材をもっと追及していくことになりました。

Today, I decide to start a blog "Straw Accessory Ideas 100 - how to make simple and cool accessory with drinking staw" because a magazine says "it is good for you to start a blog".
Anyway, this blog give you my original ways of making accessory with drinking straws that you can get from anywhere like a supper market, restaurant, cafe and first food shop. My recipe will be simple and the piece will be cool! Necklace, hair accessory, bracelet, earrings, ring, brooch and so on. Ideas are going to be one hundred! This is my target. Cross my fingers.
I have just started making an accessory with staws at the begining of this year and "UnionJap" asked me to join thier second group show in Harajuku, Tokyo in April (Picture). For the show, I mainly made neckpieces and it was great start for me to explore the material "straw".
